Fabric Care Guide: Leather

Leather Care
Nothing says luxury quite like leather. Effortless, edgy and perennially cool, our leather pieces have earned icon status in the Cefinn collection and with good reason. Being a natural fibre, leather is strong, durable and water repellent, meaning it can last for decades. We love contrasting butter-soft fabric with sexy silk shirts, soft woolen knits and crisp cotton and with proper care you'll be wearing your leather pieces for years to come. In this guide we will give you expert tips on how to care for, maintain and clean your leather.

Freshening:

To freshen up your leather pieces between washes, lay flat or hang to air for a few hours to remove odours. This should be done after each wear to keep your pieces fresh before storing away. Alternatively, you can give you wool pieces a light steam to freshen up.

Spot Cleaning:

To spot clean any small stains or spillages, use warm water and a damp cloth and gently dab at the stain to loosen. If needed you can use a mild detergent or baby shampoo. Avoid harsh scrubbing, as it can damage the fabric. Treat stains as soon as they happen to avoid them soaking into the fabric. Once the stain is removed, allow the item to air dry fully before storing away.

Washing:

We always recommend sending your leather pieces to the dry cleaners for full washing and do not advise machine washing.

Storing:

Make sure your leather pieces are completely dry before hanging them in a cool, dry place to avoid them getting damaged by moisture and humidity. We don't recommend storing leather folded, as this can damage the patina and cause ageing of the item.
