Fabric Care Guide: Denim

Freshening:

To freshen up your denim between washes, hang outside on a clothesline or a well-ventilated area to air out. Alternatively, you can spritz it lightly with a fabric refresher or a mixture of water and essential oils to eliminate any odors.

Spot Cleaning:

For minor stains or spills on your denim, spot cleaning is the way to go. Use a damp cloth or a soft-bristled brush with mild soap to gently dab at the stained area. Avoid harsh scrubbing, as it can damage the fabric. Once the stain is lifted, allow the dress to air dry completely.

Washing:

When it's time to give your denim pieces a thorough cleaning, always turn them inside out before placing in the washing machine. Use cold water and a gentle detergent to preserve the color and integrity of the fabric. Avoid overloading the washing machine to ensure thorough cleaning without excessive friction. Once washed, promptly remove the items from the machine to prevent creases and wrinkles.

Drying:

After washing, opt for air drying your denim instead of using a dryer. Hang on a clothesline or a drying rack in a shaded area to avoid direct sunlight, which can cause fading. Avoid wringing out your denim pieces, as this can misshape the fabric. If necessary, you can tumble dry on a low heat setting for a short duration to finish drying, but always check the care label first.

Storing:

When storing denim, hang in a cool, dry place to maintain shape and prevent creasing. Avoid folding it for long periods, as this can lead to permanent creases. If hanging space is limited, gently roll instead of folding to minimize wrinkles. Additionally, consider using breathable garment bags to protect the dress from dust and pests.
